What AB 98 Requires

Recent state legislation, specifically AB 98 (2024), requires local jurisdictions to update their Circulation Element to identify and establish truck routes. The purpose is to accommodate increased truck traffic, ensure safe travel, and avoid sensitive receptors, including residential areas.

The City of Ontario is required to complete these amendments by January 1, 2026. If the City does not meet this deadline, it will be fined up to $50,000 every six months by the Attorney General's office.
