Evacuation Planning (AB 747)

Recent legislation, AB 747 (2022), requires local jurisdictions that have adopted a local hazard mitigation plan (LHMP) to use this information in the safety element to comply with state law by summarizing and including by reference the LHMP in the safety element.

2023 LHMP Incorporation

The City's Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) creates a safer community for residents, businesses, and visitors. The LHMP allows public safety officials and city staff, elected officials, and members of the public to understand the threats from natural and human-caused hazards in our community. The LHMP provides recommendations to proactively decrease these threats before disasters occur.

The LHMP sections consist of a summary of natural and human-caused hazards, assessment, hazard mitigation strategy, and plan maintenance to ensure it is kept up to date.

Extreme Heat Protection (SB 2684)

Recent legislation, specifically SB 2684, requires local jurisdictions to identify new information related to extreme heat hazards that was not available during the previous revision of the Safety Element. This information is to be incorporated into the Safety Element.
