California State Parks is working on Phase 3 of the Seacliff and New Brighton State Beaches Recovery Process. This work builds on the Phase 1 and Phase 2 work completed in 2025 that included a Sea Level Rise Vulnerability Assessment and Shoreline Adaptation Alternatives Study.

The Phase 3 planning work underway includes two related efforts:

• The Camping Feasibility Study will evaluate potential options for providing new camping at New Brighton State Beach (including the Porter-Sesnon area that is not currently open to the public), Seacliff State Beach, and Sunset State Beach to replace the RV Camping area at Seacliff State Beach that was damaged in previous storms and considered too vulnerable for future use.
• The Coastal Facilities Management Plan will define goals and objectives for the adaptation of five sites directly adjacent to the beach at Seacliff and New Brighton State Beaches.
