The City of Novato is updating its General Plan Safety Element, which is part of the A City That Works chapter. The Safety Element addresses the effects of hazards on the community, including flooding and wildfire, and hazards that may worsen due to climate change, such as sea level rise, extreme heat, and drought. This is a targeted update focused on complying with new State requirements to address climate change adaptation, resilience strategies, and evacuation planning.

The Draft Safety Element is now out for Public Review, and we invite you to share your feedback on the goals, policies, and programs in the element. The proposed revisions are informed by the Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment and engagement with the community and service providers. Your input will help ensure these
