The City’s General Plan Safety Element includes policies for protecting the community from the effects of hazards—including wildfire, flooding, and extreme heat—as well as guidance for safe evacuation in the case of an emergency.

The City is updating the Safety Element to comply with recent State regulations, which require cities to complete a climate change vulnerability assessment and evacuation analysis, and to update the Safety Element to include associated climate adaptation and resilience goals, policies, and implementation actions. Learn more about the Safety Element update process at novato.org/safetyelement.

This survey is intended to help the project team understand your experience with hazards in the community and provide an opportunity to brainstorm policies to improve Novato’s resilience to climate change hazards. Community involvement in this planning process is critical to improve resilience in Novato. The City appreciates your time and welcomes your feedback.

This survey contains 22 questions and takes about 10 minutes to complete. Novato is committed to serving our diverse community. All responses are voluntary and anonymous.
